British milliners always set the trends for the latest hat designs and Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, is aways the first to show them off. The latest style is referred to by several names—the hat band, crown and halo. The style is so fashion forward that no one quite knows what to call it. The first time Kate sported this new design was at Prince Louis christening, and continues to favor it.  Variations of this style are actually a new take on the vintage look of the bandeau. These classic hats are more relaxed and informal than the fancy fascinators that  proceeded them. Luckily fashion embodies many styles, so saucer hats and perchers are still in. But if you want to be on the cutting edge of what’s new in millinery at the moment, you can join the Duchess of Cambridge, as well as other royals, trend setters and celebrities and add this new style to your wardrobe. I’ve recently launched a collection of hat bands, crowns and halos, and I hope you’ll visit my website and take a look. Since many of my hats are one-of-a-kind, keep watching for new creations.   Amy Ward    AwardMillineryDesign.com
