I used the highest quality ivory parisisal (the queen of straws). It takes a master weaver 7 days to hand weave just one piece of this exquisite straw. Then it takes me 3 days to steam. block, shape and trim a hat. I carved the hat block to make this cross between a Victorian English riding hat, top hat and mad hatter, which is one of my signature shapes.
The ivory straw is surrounded with cream silk around the crown and the edge of the brim.
I added a cream and white flower and hand stitched ivory veiling to the sash, which can be worn up or down. I can also make this hat in white. I you prefer ostrich feathers instead of the flower I can do that as well.
This couture chapeau is perfection. Imagine it with a pastel floral vintage dress or a silk and lace slip dress. Ooh la la! I made this hat for a bride in England, who wore it with a vintage Victorian wedding dress.
This is a custom made hat. Measure 1/4" above your ears and around where a hat would rest snugly, so I can make it just for you. Please allow up to ten days for custom made hats to be completed and shipped. Custom made hats are not returnable.
My prices are wholesale to the public. Fine shops purchase them and double the price to their customers.
My hats have appeared in Victoria Magazine and been worn at the Royal Wedding, Ascot,
Buckingham Palace Garden Party, Kentucky Derby and Melbourne Cup. Recently Disney Studios
commissioned me to make 9 hats for the Oscars.
